Busy Busy Busy
We have had so much to do lately and not enough time in the day to do it all. Our walk was a wet mess but we somehow still made it to the end, and we met our goal of 30,000 dollars. Thanks o everyone who was a part in helping find a cure for our little angel and everyone's children who fights CF everyday. Lanie had to go for her checkup at Scottish Rite and got a great report once again. She got her flu shots and her 9 month checkup last Friday and Nancy said she was doing so good.Lanie is now pulling up and taking a few steps, talking and just getting so big. We have so much to do for the holidays and I just hope she stays healthy through all the traveling. Lanie got her vest for airway clearance and it is so much easier than doing it by hand, and she thinks it is funny when she shakes. Thanks to everyone who keeps our family in their prayers, GOD is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She's Everywhere, She's Everywhere
Wow it has been along time since I have posted, we have been busy with everything lately. Lanie has learned to say Dada, crawl and pull up all in one week! Now she is into everything and Landon is getting a feel of having a sister! The kids have been doing really good the past few weeks and we are still taking it one day at a time. Landon's birthday is coming up soon and I can't believe he will be 4. Lanie is 7 months now and moving around like a 10 month old. She is learning everything from her brother and he is still so sweet to her! Now it is getting really close to our Great Strides walk and I am trying to get everything wrapped up, so please let me know if you would like to be apart of our team! I am getting t-shirts for our team to wear the day of the walk so if you would like one please call me @ 678-316-1345 or e-mail me @ btench252@yahooo.com. As of right now Lanie is still fighting this battle with everything she has, she is such a happy and loving little girl.....We love you baby girl, we are behind you through every little step!!!!!!!!!!

Lanie's second trip to the CF clinic!
Lanie went to clinic yesterday and she got a great report! They said her lungs were as clear as can be. The nutritionist said she didn't even know what to give her for a goal weight for our next visit because she is doing so good on her weight. They were all so excited to see Lanie's progress, they gave her a goal weight of 17lbs and 8ozs for our next visit so she probably won't have any trouble meeting that goal since she is almost there now! Lanie also got to come off of her medicine for her gallbladder so now she just takes her enzymes for her digestive! She has to go back November 2 so please keep our little fighter in your prayer's. Thanks for all the prayer's, they must be working because she is doing great. Landon is so much help with her he keeps her so active, she just wants to do everything he does... She loves her big brother so much!!!! Overall we are doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry it's been so long, we have been so busy lately. Landon was in his cousin's wedding, then I found out they were going to take my thyroids out. On the Monday before my surgery Landon got the croup and was in the doctor's office, then Lanie got the same thing on the night before my surgery, which was on Thursday. So of course me being nervous about leaving the kids for my surgery, they were both sick. I called down to Scottish Rite and the doctor said that if she wasn't any better by Friday he would call her in something for her cold. I got to come home Friday and she wasn't any better so they called her in an antibiotic and she still has a runny nose but is doing much better now. This past weekend we had a family reunion in Hanging Dog N.C, and we had a great time! On top of everything Landon's goat got sick and died,he was so upset:( So we got home last night from Hanging Dog and went and got him another goat who he named Swiper! Now Landon is happy that he has two goat's again... Dora and Swiper! We are all doing better just still trying to get things back to normal around the house!!! Lanie goes to the CF clinic for a check up on Aug 3 , and we all can't wait to see what kind of report the little Butter Ball gets!! Please don't forget about signing up and donating for our walk on Oct 17, 2009, which you can do on the Blog in the top left corner!!!

I knew Lanie would always be my little fighter, she thinks she is as big as Landon. Back from our family trip to Helen.
We had a blast on our trip to Helen this weekend! I can take my kids anywhere, they were great! The water park was so much fun, Lanie went to sleep in her tube, and Landon walked around splashing! After the water park we were going to eat at Paul's but it was a 2 hour wait, so we settled for BBQ. Later that night we went putt putting and walked around before bed. The kids were so tired they passed out, they both slept all night....... YEAH for mommy!!! We went on our picnic at lunch today and after we ate the guys went golfing. Lanie is such a good baby, she just rode in her stroller and soaked up everything! Our trip was so much fun, I love family time and we all needed a get away!
Lanie is rolling all over the floor now, and learning her hand coordination so she is playing with her toys while rolling! Landon doesn't know what to think about her moving around now, he just plays right there with her. Lanie had another great week...... go Lanie Bug!!!!!!!! She goes for her 4 month check up on June 23, and I can't wait to see how much she has grown. Her goal weight at clinic on Aug 3 is between 13&14 pounds, and I think she is pretty close to that now:) I just pray she continues to do well, so please keep us in your prayers.

One little Two little fish!!!!
Summer is finally here and it is warm enough to put the kids in the pool! Lanie loved the pool for the first time, which I was surprised because it was very cold. They said that swimming was so good for kids with CF, I guess we are starting her early. Landon learned that he could put a little ring on and float all around the pool all by himself! Wow he is getting so big now, time flies by so fast when you have kids. Lanie is now a little bit over 3 months and is still doing so good, she has had another great week. Andy and I are finally adjusting to the life with a baby that needs extra care, and it isn't so bad after all. Don't get me wrong I still break down and cry sometimes, but I guess I won't ever get over that. I just hope someday we will hear the words cure found, so that my little angel and everyone else with CF can live a long healthy life. Sometimes we may get down but we will never give up on our baby girl. Please take time to visit our page for the Great Strides walk, and register to be on our team to find a cure. Every dime counts to help my baby live a longer life.

Alot of L's
Lanie,Lainey,Landon,Liam, and Logan all played so well at Lainey's first birthday party! Lanie is still doing great, she started eating cereal this week and doesn't really like it....... it isn't mash potatoes! We had a great week, she got to go play with her friend Lainey who also has CF. One of my friends from high school brought her little boy over, and they loved playing in the floor together. I can't believe she is already 3 months old,wow how time flies. Landon is so much help with his baby sister, she just adores him.
How could I describe my life in one word? "PERFECT" I love my family so much! Lanie's CF has just brought us so much closer as a family. The Lord puts children with special needs into the arms of good care, and I won't let it get me down! Lanie is my angel from heaven and I will do anything in my power to keep her healthy. Landon is so perfect, he just keeps us both going!

Busy week at the Tench's
We have had a good week but we have had something everyday. My family and I have been working on fundraisers for our Great Strides walk on Oct. 17 2009. Our team name is Life for Lainey and Lanie, and we are working to meet our goal of 3,000 dollars. Deann has done a great job putting all of this together! On top of all this Landon was sick Tuesday and Wednesday and had a Dentist appointment on Thursday..... Busy mommy. Friday I done some running around and got ready for the parade on Saturday, and I think Lanie got the virus Landon had. We enjoyed the parade Saturday, and Sunday we was getting ready for another week. Lanie is growing like a weed, and rotten as can be. Other than runny nose's and tired babies we are doing great. I hope Lanie and Landon is feeling better this week.

Happy Mother's Day
Today was a day for all mother's, and I couldn't ask for any better kids. I have grown to be a better mother through Lanie's CF. It made me realize that anything can happen to my children, I don't take life for granite, because I know it can change in a split second. I love my kids so much more everyday! Lanie's CF has changed us as a family, we won't let it stand in our way to live, love, laugh, and, learn. We will reach out and do the best we can to someday hopefully find a cure. My husband and I have the best mother's and they are always there when we need them. I hope today was a great day for everyone and please keep our family in your prayers. Lanie is still doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lanie's first visit to the CF clinic.
Today we headed to Atlanta for Lanie's first visit to the CF clinic. Lanie got to meet all of the team that will be taking care of her in the future. First they weighed her and she weighs 11 lbs 13ozs and was 24 inches long. The first person to come in was the nurse practitioner and she was so happy that Lanie has gained so much weight. She said that Lanie's lungs sound good and everything looks great!!! Then the nutritionist came in to meet with us and she said the only thing we needed to do different is start salt in her formula since it was summer, so she doesn't dehydrate. She told us Lanie was in the Fiftieth percentile in her weight, and she said the better ther weight gain the healthier the lungs would be. Next thing was to learn CPT to help the mucus stay broken up and off the walls of her lungs. So over all our first visit went very well, I was so happy that Lanie is doing so good.

Lanie had her 2 month check up and she now weighs 10lbs 11ozs and got good news from her pediatrician. She is getting so big so fast. I can not believe she is already 2 months old!!!! When we first found out that Lanie had CF we found another couple in Gainesville that has a girl named Lainey. I found their number and called them for support and come to find out I knew her husband from a previous job. Our phone call went on for about 2 hours and I just felt so relived that I found someone for support. Now DeAnn and I talk about twice a week and we are working on a team for Great Strides in October. DeAnn has been so good to us, I feel so much better knowing I can call anytime I have a question or just need to talk. THANKS DEANN!!!!!!!!! Lanie will go to the CF clinic for the first time on May 4,2009 and I can't wait to see what kind of report we get.

Lanie's Story
Lanie was born on February 18 2009, and weighed 7 lbs 3ozs . We brought her home on Feb. 21,2009 only thinking she was perfectly healthy. As weeks passed by she was growing and before we knew it she was 2 weeks old. On her 2 week appointment she weighed 8lbs 2ozs, she was getting so big. When Lanie was 19 days old we found out her PKU was abnormal and 2 days later we went to Scottish rite to have a sweat test done. We waited to find out the results and it came back positive. It was 1 week later we returned for the second sweat test only to find out she had Cystic Fibrosis. As any mother would be I was devastated, not knowing anything about CF I was looking for answers. We had to go back to Scottish rite and meet the digestive doctor and take a stool sample to she if Lanie's pancreas was sufficient. While we were there she went ahead and done a throat culture to make sure she did not have any bacteria growing in her mucus. She sent us home with the enzymes for her pancreas and said she would call us with the results from all the test. A few days later she called and said her pancreas was working but not 100% so she told me to start the enzymes, and that her culture came back negative which was great. Dr. Pilzer scheduled us to come back in 1 week to she how she was doing on her enzymes and to check her weight. On March 4 we went back for her check up and she got a great report , she weighed 9lbs 13ozs. Dr. Pilzer noticed she was alittle jaundice so we went for some blood work and a few other test of her liver and gallbladder. Lanie's gallbladder was working slow so they put her on Ursodiol to help it function properly, and said she would recheck her in a few months to see how it was doing.
